Fashion and style are always an important part of any race day and Lockhart Picnic Races are no exception.
Judging of Fashions on the Field will take place in the following categories:
Junior Best Racer
Best Dressed Teenager
Most Elegant Lady
Best Dressed Couple
Most Outstanding Hat/Fascinator
Novice Race-goer

Judging of Fashions on the Field will take place in the following categories:
Junior Best Racer
- Aged 0-12 years
- A contemporary outfit demonstrating a stylish interpretation of current trends in today’s fashion
- Suitability of the outfit for the person’s age, season and race day
- A sense of fun and style and originality
Best Dressed Teenager
- Aged 13-18 years
- A contemporary outfit demonstrating a stylish interpretation of current trends in today’s fashion
- A sense of fun, style and originality
- Hat or headpiece compulsory
Most Elegant Lady
- Aged 19+
- Elegant, Classic and timeless outfit which express originality, with a clear understanding of seasonal race wear.
- Appropriateness of the outfit for the individual and the Spring carnival racing season.
- Attention to detail with accessories.
- Head wear is essential and should be of a contemporary design to compliment the outfit
Best Dressed Couple
- Couple should be individually outstanding and make a coordinated pair.
- Men’s outfit should include a suit or jacket and tie
- Women’s outfit must include head wear and complementary seasonal suitable accessories.
- Both outfits should reflect current fashion trends and be in line with Spring racing attire
Most Outstanding Hat/Fascinator
- Style and design of the millinery (elements including originality, concept of the design and theme)
- Quality and workmanship of the millinery (elements including technique, line and trim)
- Appropriateness of the millinery for the Spring racing season, the individual and the outfit
Novice Race-goer
- We're keen to encourage everyone to enter fashions on the field so this year we have introduced a new category
- Open to anyone who has never won or been runner up in a fashion on the field event
